The Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) seeks advanced doctoral students for PhD research fellowships for the 2022-2023 academic year. The ancient Greek word for public spaces is agora—a place for assembly.
The Agora Fellowship provides one year of funding to PhD students at the University of Pittsburgh interested in governance of the public sphere, including governments, markets, and the voluntary sector that lies between market and government. This includes nongovernmental and informal organizations.
Fellows will attend CGM workshops and seminars. They will be contributing members to the CGM research community working with affiliated faculty and contributing to center research initiatives. Building a strong community is a central mission of CGM and Agora fellows should be active and engaged participants in this.
To apply, candidates should send a research statement, current transcript, and cover letter indicating how he, she, or they can contribute to CGM research initiatives to email@example.com. Applicants should have advanced to candidacy in their field of study or have finished all coursework. Due to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, CGM is waiving letters of recommendations for the application cycle this year. In lieu of letters, applicants should provide the names of two references at the University of Pittsburgh.
Applications should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 1, 2022.
