Agora Fellowships Available to Advanced PhD Students at Pitt

The Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) is seeking advanced doctoral students for PhD research fellowships for the 2023-2024 academic year. The ancient Greek word for public spaces is agora—a place for assembly.

The Agora Fellowship provides one year of funding to PhD students at the University of Pittsburgh interested in governance of the public sphere, including governments, markets, and the voluntary sector that lies between market and government. This includes nongovernmental and informal organizations.

Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in CGM workshops and seminars. They will become active members of the CGM research community, collaborating with affiliated faculty members and contributing to ongoing research initiatives at the center. Fostering a strong community is a key objective of CGM, and Agora fellows are expected to actively engage in and contribute to this mission.

To apply, candidates should send a research statement, current transcript, contact information for two references, and cover letter indicating how the candidate can contribute to CGM research initiatives to cgm@pitt.edu.  Applicants should have advanced to candidacy in their field of study or have finished all coursework.

Applications must be emailed to cgm@pitt.edu no later than August 7, 2023.
