Governing Deep Differences Reading Workshop: July 27 - 29 2023

The Center for Governance and Markets hosted a foundational reading workshop on approaches to governing deep-seated differences in societies. The workshop is part of a larger project, "Governing Deep Difference: Modus Vivendi, Polycentrism, and Institutional Diversity," supported by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation.

The event convened a group of scholars for discussions centered around the works of Elinor Ostrom, John Gray, John McCabe, Shadi Hamid, and other luminaries. A key focus was the connection between modus vivendi philosophy and polycentric governance. The primary aim was to pinpoint frameworks that encourage tolerance, ensure peaceful coexistence, and bolster collaborative ties among a diverse set of individuals and communities.
